Permanent venue for IFF of state under consideration

Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: The state government is considering setting up of a permanent venue for conducting Kerala State International Film Festival (IFF), Minister for Education and Culture M A Baby said today.
A government appointed committee headed by well-known director and film maker Adoor Gopalakrishnan had recently submitted its report in this regard, Baby said in his reply to a calling attention notice in the Assembly.
It was also proposed to start Kerala Film Institute, a video park and film archive by Kerala Chalachithra Academy, he said. The government would also consider, taking into account the state's financial position, the demand for increasing the subsidy of Rs four lakh given by Chalachitra Academy for Malayalam films produced in state-owned 'Chitranjali' studio. Extending tax concession to multiplex cinema halls that exhibits good and art cinema also would be looked into, he said replying to the calling attention notice of P C Vishnunadh (Cong). 0 (0) |
