Steps taken to ensure tourist safety: Kodiyeri

Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: Home and Tourism Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishan told the state assembly today the government had taken all measures for the safety of foreign tourists visiting the state.


Besides the Tourism Police, the government would seek the assistance of other forces, including local police, during the peak tourist season of December and January, he said in a written reply to A A Aziz (RSP) and others. Balakrishnan said the police had registered 36 cases against attacks on foreign tourist the last year.

A total of 598,929 tourists had visited the state last year, he added.
