Kerala News: KANNUR, Kerala: The North Malabar Chamber of Commerce yesterday said the railway budget proposals did not accomodate most of the long standing demands of north Kerala.
The demands of increasing frequency of the Rajdhani Express, electrification of Shoranur-Mangalore route, nod for Thalassery-Mysore rail line to link Bangalore did not find place in the budget proposals, NMCC President Mahesh Chandra Baliga said.
The budget also ignored the persistent demand to set up a pitline in Kannur and increasing the basic rail networks in north Kerala, Baliga said in a statment here.
He hailed the proposal to introduce a new Mangalore- Thiruvananthapuram and Goa-Ernakulam express trains and said the decision would help passengers of north Kerala.
