Bus charge hike after court's decision: Minister

Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: The state government would take a decision on the demand from owners to increase bus fares after the High Court decided on the issue pending before it, Transport Minister Jose Thettayil said here on Monday.


Speaking to reporters here,he said all trade unions in the transport sector had been issued notices to submit their views as respondents. The next hearing has been posted for February 15, he said.

The cabinet would discuss the issue after the court's decision, he said.

He said 30 new `Ananthapuri Fast' services would be introduced in the capital city. A total of four airconditioned and 11 non-airconditioned low floor buses would also be introduced in Thiruvananthapuram, he said.

The inauguration of the work on KSRTC's new bus terminal complex at Thampanoor in the city would be held tomorrow, the minister said.
